Heligoland instead of Honolulu. For Flensburger, we turned North German coastal culture and laid-back surf attitude into a new lemonade brand.

North German surfers only need three things: a board, a stiff breeze and a proper refreshment. Flensburger Küsten Limo celebrates the lifestyle of all-weather wave riders. Because up here, it’s Heligoland instead of Honolulu, the North Sea instead of the South Seas and a fisherman’s jacket instead of a Hawaiian shirt.
With plenty of love for the coast and a strong feel for the Flensburger lovebrand, we had the opportunity to develop Küsten Limo from the ground up. From naming, branding and packaging to the corporate design, we created a distinctive brand world that combines down-to-earth North German character with a relaxed surf attitude.
The design draws on familiar Flensburger brand codes and translates them into a fresh new world. Bold colours, illustrative details and a confident appearance create strong recognition on shelf and make it instantly clear where this lemonade feels at home: on the coast. At the same time, the idea works consistently across the entire range, creating a strong visual connection from label to communication.
The result is a brand world shaped by surf, wind and wide-open horizons. One that doesn’t try to imitate California, but celebrates its very own North German surf spirit.
A look that combines Nordic vibes with a generous dose of hang-loose attitude, from the very first idea right through to the signature plop moment.
